MIDSUMMER GARDEN PARTY

I spent most of the spring of 2023 in my garden, sowing seeds and weeding flowerbeds. Finally after many months of an unusually rainy year, summer was approaching and my gardening hobby started to come into full bloom.

Which means it was time to celebrate with a midsummer fairy garden tea party on a late May Sunday afternoon!

I drew a little aesthetic inspiration from Scandinavian midsummer traditions, and asked my guests to wear all white. But I also took some
visual queues from Victorian garden parties, utilizing my grandmothers lace and linen table cloths and Blue Willow tea service.

The week before the event I prepared lots of treats to serve at the event, including “Candy Cap Mushroom Cookies.” Candy Caps are edible mushrooms that have an oaky maple syrup flavor which I purchased from “Far West Fungi

Perhaps a virgin twink would be sacrificed in the ancient tradition of my Nordic ancestors (Not really, just kidding!)

I also made pressed edible flower shortbread cookies based on the viral recipe by in her cookbook, Eat Your Flowers.

And a tea party would of course not be complete without several classic tea sandwiches with the all crusts cut off!

For drinks I served Long Island Iced Tea, Iced Black Tea, and Lemonade!
