DIY ROPE MIRROR FRAME
This was a really simple DIY project for our hallway! The inspiration for this mirror came from my grandparent’s house in Denmark which used lacquered rope for molding along all the wood ceilings. I figured I could easily use rope to frame simple round mirror! All you need is a wood circle (tabletop or disc were the search terms I used), a simple round mirror, and then some craft rope for the frame. You will also need an epoxy glue, white glue, and paint.
First you must glue the mirror on the wood disc. I just used Gorilla glue to do this, but any epoxy glue should do. Then I cut and twisted the rope into curling loops, inspired by sweet saffron infused Swedish St. Lucia buns! Once the glue was dry, I began painting the layers of paint/ white glue before applying the final coats of paint. I used glittering metallic gold paint for my final coats, but the cloth rope does soak up the paint and if you want it to really shimmer and not look dull, you have to build up layers of paint/ white glue.
Et voila! Kinda love this glam folksy nautical grand-millennial look of this DIY mirror!
